Can you put a Hellcat Pro slide on a 3" Hellcat?
Springfield sells the Hellcat only as a complete pistol, but you can still swap the slide, barrel and recoil spring. The key is that the barrel and spring have to match the slide, not the frame.
The Short Answer
- Yes, with an aftermarket slide. Apex and True Precision sell their Pro-length slides to fit both the 3" Hellcat and the Hellcat Pro frame. On the 3" frame the slide sits past the front of the frame.
- A Pro-length slide needs a Hellcat Pro barrel and Hellcat Pro recoil spring. The factory 3" barrel and spring are too short.
- Threaded barrels are 1/2x28 and made for one slide: the 3.8" threaded barrel goes in the 3" slide and the 4.4" one in the Pro slide.
- The Hellcat Pro Comp has a compensator built into its slide, so a threaded barrel or muzzle device won't clear it.
- Springfield sells separate Hellcat and Hellcat Pro magazines. We couldn't confirm that one fits the other's frame, so buy the magazine made for your frame.
